Contemporary

Contemporary is also known as “modern," “mid-century modern” or “vintage modern.” Contemporary is clean and uncluttered, and an eclectic mix of styles and colors – a bit of ordered disorder. To make your home contemporary, design with clean lines, bold colors and patterns, and an unexpected mix of materials.

Casual

Casual Chic creates warmth and comfort without too much fuss. Fill a room with large, fluffy sofas, sectionals and recliners. Add to this some farmhouse tables, woven furniture, and needlepoint rugs. Other materials to use include natural woods, distressed or white-washed woods, distressed metal and wrought iron.

Formal

Bring the Old World into our New World. Classic, traditional in style, with furnishings inspired by Queens Anne or Victoria. Choose furnishings with exquisite carved details and embroidery. Go Greek or Roman with timeless and classic materials like marble and finely carved wood furniture. While you’re at it, add in some gilded silver, gold leaf, velvet and silk.

Global

This style brings together worldwide influences in the form of materials and finishes. Go Global by using China and Japan’s polished cherry and rose woods, Africa’s horn and bone, Southeast Asia’s teak wood, and Indonesia’s rattan, to name a few. To finish off a Global room, work with mixed metals, burnished, lacquered and distressed surfaces.
